Holy Cow!!

I haven't had a blog post since May 31. I feel like such a slacker. But, in my defense, there have been many things going on in my life.

My daughter changed her last name and, in the process, added a son-in-law to my list of relatives. This is all good, but certainly alters the daily routine a bit

My son and his wife have become the Michelangelos of the interior painting world. This is all in preparation for the big move into their new house next weekend. I expect to see giant Purdue and Kent State logos on the ceilings and who knows what else.

We just came back from a four day camping rally with the Cardinal Gulf Streamers. This is the camping club that I have been the president of for the past four years. Sue and I hosted this rally with another couple, so we were very busy.

And a
s usual, there was the barbershop quartet and chorus singing.

I haven't had much time for stray thoughts let alone time to share them on the blog. I will try to get back in the routine now.

Derbytown Chorus At Progressive Field

Our day at the ballpark was great. We sang for about 30 minutes on the plaza outside gate C before the game, sang the National Anthem and then watched the Indians score a run in the ninth inning to beat the Yankees 5-4. Below are a couple of videos.

Here we are singing "Keep The Whole World Singing" on the plaza. The song is the theme song of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

And " The Star-Spangled Banner"

Well Worth The Wait. Roadhog!!

I've had the intention of posting a Roadhog video for some time, but barbershop stuff and other activities (plus the recent bout with the plague) always seemed to keep me from it. I had made a DVD of this clip, but YouTube wouldn't accept that format, so here is the long awaited Roadhog performance from April 11, 2009. The legend that is Mark Becknell is on drums, even though he is not that visible in this clip. I have another video that I will post in the near future. That one has much better close-ups of the band members. Enjoy ROADHOG!!

Real Chickens Don't Eat Melons

And they don't live in some pre-fabricated Little Tikes dwelling. (See Kris' blog) Here is an example of a chicken coop that keeps the chickens from gittin' uppity. If you want a chicken dinner, it's not too hard to convince one of them to commit suicide.

What Ever Happened To John Edwards?

No, not that John Edwards.

No, not that John Edwards. (anyway he's John Edward)

This John Edwards.(in blue, against Alabama) The basketball player from Hudson, OH who went to the NCAA tournament twice with Kent State, and then spent some years with Indiana and Atlanta in the NBA. Here is a brief update.

Janua
ry 6, 2009-acquired by Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Developmental League.

Played with Sioux Falls until released(injury) on March 6, 2009. Average about 9 ppg and a little over 6 rebounds/game.

Acquired by Iowa Energy of the NBADL on March 26. Again averaged about 9 ppg through the rest of the season and scored 13 points in a first round playoff game.

So, for all of you who have been wondering about John, this should ease your minds a bit.

Brain Teaser-Why is the Fort Wayne entry in the NBADL called the MAD ANTS?

Is LeBron not the only Cav from another planet?

After seeing the new Star Trek movie yesterday, I suspect that Delonte West may have some Romulan connections. (but in a nice way)

What do you think?

Growing An Easter Bunny

When we visited with Kris and Mark at Easter time, we got this little bunny as a gift. He came with instructions that said to put him in water and watch him grow. These pictures show what happened over a ten day period. (Note: On some days, I took morning and evening pictures)
